When: Sat., Nov. 4, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 2017
Join us as we celebrate the birthday of President James K. Polk! This event brings history to life and gives visitors a chance to experience the everyday life of backcountry settlers like the Polks. Living historians decked out in period apparel will fill the spaces within our historic cabins and occupy the grounds around the site. During the event guests will be able to experience open hearth cooking, tatting, fiber production, rifles and muskets demonstrations, and lectures on Polk's political career and the history of the Polk Family in Mecklenburg County in the museum auditorium.
