Pirates of Penzance

Gilbert and Sullivan's comic operetta The Pirates of Penzance tells the story of Frederic, who, having reached his 21st birthday, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates. He meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, and they fall in love. Frederic soon learns, however, that he was born in Leap Year on the 29th February, and so technically he has another sixty-three years before he can be free of his apprenticeship. His only solace is that Mabel promises to wait for him. This show introduced some of Gilbert and Sullivan's most beloved music, including "Poor Wandering
