THE PANTHER'S DONTE JACKSON & NAOT HAND OUT 150 SHOES TO LOCAL DOMESTIC ABUSE ORGANIZATION

October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month

On Tuesday October 15th 2019, Donte Jackson of the Carolina Panthers teamed up with Naot Footwear, Vera Bradley and local Charlotte shoe retailer Feet First to donate 150 pairs of brand new shoes & blankets to Safe Alliance, a Charlotte based organization that helps victims impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.

The event was a success with Donte working one on one with the members of the program to help to fit them for shoes, answered questions, signed autographs and took pictures with them.

ON BEHALF OF OCTOBER AND DOMESTIC ABUSE AWARENESS

Although we know that a center like Self Alliance is helping people who have escaped domestic abuse and can be in danger, all participating parties had agreed to this event in order to shine a spotlight on October as Domestic Abuse Awareness Month.

To try and imagine being in a position where you must leave all that you know and have in order to escape an abuser is very hard, but also a very real problem that many women and men face in the US.

Did you know?

- 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men are impacted by Domestic Violence in their lifetime

- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to more than 38,000 domestic violence related calls last year.

- Every 9 seconds a woman is physically abused in the United States

To bring them some comfort and hopefully put a smile on their faces, Naot Footwear along with the local store Feet First, were onsite helping to fit everyone for a new pair of donated shoes (150 in total). Additionally, Vera Bradley donated blankets, robes, mugs and journals on site.
