It should be a given that at the The Ninth Annual Charlotte Bartender's Ball, exorbitant amounts of alcohol will be consumed. After all, it's an open bar comprised of top-shelf liquor and a full line of beers, as well as talented bartenders ready for some liquid-mixing action. But the annual shindig, happening on Valentine's Day and sporting a theme of "Made in America" this year, also features a dinner buffet. Folks attending must dress accordingly by following a semi-formal dress code, and yes, this means no wearing the flag. The event is for a good cause, too. Money raised goes to support Benefits Kids First of the Carolinas, so it's worth the price, even if you end up with your head in the toilet. $70 (No tickets sold on the day of the event). 7 p.m.-12 a.m. The Blake Hotel, 555 McDowell St. www.charlottebartendersball.com.
