You don't really have to "keep 'em separated" ... The Offspring that is. The California group that formed in 1984 and blasted into popularty in the early '90s with songs like "Come Out and Play" and "Self Esteem" (from their hit album Smash) is still at it, though not with all original members. The band's most recent release and its eighth studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage & Grace, was released in 2008 and contained singles "Hammerhead" and "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid." There's talk of a ninth album, but since the group is on tour, it most likely will be a while before the recording process actually begins. Either way, enjoy seeing The Offspring when they perform at Uptown Amphitheatre. And come out to Halo (formerly Garden and Gun Club) for a special pre-show party (starts at 5:30 p.m.) with free food from The Nook and drink specials, presented by none other than Creative Loafing. $26.50-$36.50. 7:30 p.m. Uptown Amphitheatre at the NC Music Factory, 820 Hamilton St. 704-549-5555. www.livenation.com.
