Castaways

Matchbox Twenty first hit the scene in 1996, and it's been relatively steady success ever since. Of course, the band had a brief hiatus as original guitarist Adam Gaynor left and singer Rob Thomas had his hit with Santana and released a solo album. The band's hitting the road in support of last year's Exile on Mainstream -- a greatest hits album with a few new tracks. Rumor has it a new album is in the works, but it won't be released until '09. Meanwhile, Thomas is also working on a second solo disc that's scheduled for this year. They're bringing along MuteMath and Alanis Morissette -- whose new album, Flavors of Entanglement is due this spring. 7 p.m. $35-$75. Cricket Arena, 2700 E. Independence Blvd. 704-522-6500. www,cricketarenacharlotte.com.
