Jewel hasn't been plagued with a lack of creativity since her start in the music world with 1995's Pieces. Yeah, she's ventured outside of the music realm by writing a poetry book and an autobiography, amongst other endeavors, but music-wise she has remained dedicated to her craft. Her latest 2009 CD release is titled Lullaby. The album features a handful of songs by Jewel, as well as revamped covers (like The Wizard of Oz's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"), popular nursery rhymes, and ... lullabies. Though the inclusion of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" on the disc might make one jump to the conclusion that it's for kids, the country/pop songstress has declared in recent interviews that the "mood album" is for both children and adults. Jewel will perform with Meiko at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center's newest venue, Knight Theater, tonight. Tickets begin at $39.50, which include a 50-cent donation to a charity of Jewel's choice. 7:30 p.m. Knight Theater, 430 S. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org.
