Summer is heating up and so are the CD racks and concert halls. With the release of their sophomore album Arm's Way, the Montreal indie band Islands is definitely no longer surrounded by water, but by a high tide of fans. Filled with catchy rock and sometimes seemingly surreal, psychedelic, pop-esque songs (including the bands first single "Arms" -- supported with a parade of strings) the group is skillful in instrumental combinations to back their oh-so-fresh album. Performing along with Islands will be Crayonsmith, who hails from Dublin, Ireland. Just as talented but less known to date, they offer a similar blend of indie rock spattered with ambient escapades of electro/experimental vibes. AWOL will also perform. $12-$15. 9 p.m. Neighborhood Theatre, 511 E. 36th St. 704-358-9298. www.neighborhoodtheatre.com.
