MUSIC: Clarence Carter

Saturday, Jan. 24

Soul-blues musician Clarence Carter was born blind, but he hasn't let it stop him from being an ongoing melody-making machine. His big break in the music industry went down during the 1960s and '70s, when he cranked out hits like "Slip Away," "Patches," and "Strokin," but even since then he hasn't let up. Keep your eyes (and ears!) peeled for him, as he'll make his way to the Q.C. tonight for a performance at McGlohon Theatre, dubbed appropriately "Uptown Blues." Mac Arnold and Plate Full O' Blues to open. $35-$50. 8 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000.
