Movies & Mint: World Fair

When: Sun., Jan. 19, 3-4 p.m. 2014

Despite its setting in the Empire State, this documentary has already picked up several awards for “best short” at film festivals in Colorado, Alabama and Wisconsin. The film, capping off at 25 minutes, uses interviews, photos, artwork, video and other archived material to present a vivid take on 1939’s New York World’s Fair. Mint Museum Uptown’s Inventing the Modern World: Decorative Arts at the World’s Fairs 1851-1939 exhibit, which opened back in September, is filled with impressive decorative objects. Jump on this combo option with admission to the screening and entrance to the exhibit. Registration for the film is required. To register, call 704-337-2107. (Anita Overcash)
