Gourmet Popsicle Shop with Nine South Florida Locations Based in Miami is Now Delivering The Best Ice Cream Experience in South End Charlotte!

MIAMI, FLORIDA – February 23, 2020 – Based in Miami, Florida, Morelia Gourmet Paletas, also known as Paletas Morelia, is a gourmet Mexican popsicle shop known for its fresh ingredients and extensive menu. It welcomes locals and tourists to enjoy authentic Mexican paletas at its South Florida locations and coming soon to Charlotte, North Carolina!

Coming to South End Charlotte, North Carolina, Paletas Morelia will be in the heart of the lively and youthful neighborhood with historic roots. This district is perfect for the ice cream shop due to its vibrant districts filled with culinary delights, and more! Also known as the Queen City, the location brings people together, inspires creativity, and nurtures cultures; and by adding Paletas Morelia to the puzzle, it will add the missing sweet spot that South End needed. Located at 1425 Winnifred St. #104 Charlotte, NC 28203 next to Wooden Robot and around the block from restaurants like North Italia and Stir, this location will have 1,588 square feet of space for guests to get creative and let their imagination run wild.

What are paletas? Paletas are popsicles and Mexican Paletas are way bigger than normal ice pops, they are: hand-made, artisanal, and made with 100% natural ingredients. One of the first questions the ice cream shop gets when someone is visiting will surely be: “What are paletas made from?” Even though paletas may look like ordinary popsicles, this dessert is packed with a much larger punch that will make your taste buds dance. Morelia’s paletas are gourmet due to its top-quality ingredients; combined with both Italian Gelato and French Sorbet to give it that natural yet tasty flavor. Paletas at Morelia, are made from fresh natural fruits (such as Strawberry, Mango, Passionfruit, Pineapple, etc) or from rich creamy ingredients (such as Belgian Chocolate, Sicilian Pistachio, Coconut, etc). The right mix of these main ingredients with secondary ingredients such as water, milk, condensed milk among others, opens up a whole world of flavor possibilities. Even though fruits are a common base ingredient for a typical Mexican paleta, milk-based ice cream paletas are also available. For those less interested in fruity flavors, our paleta shops also offer classic creamy flavor options (such as the Belgian Chocolate, OREO Cookies & Cream, Reese’s Peanut Butter, and Dulce de Leche filled with Dulce de Leche)!

To differentiate itself from other ice cream shops, the unique experience consists of the following process: 1) Pick it, 2) Dip it, 3) Top it. Among the store’s signature, craveable toppings are s’mores, marshmallow fluff torched, and Nutella drizzle. The shop offers over a million different combinations by adding dippings and toppings to enhance the ice cream experience and take the flavor to the next level. At Paletas Morelia, being creative and letting your imagination flow is highly recommended!

Guests can choose from up to 16 popsicle flavors including Pistachio, Passion Fruit, Belgian Chocolate, Banana filled with Nutella, and many more with several delicious dippings and toppings to top it off! All of Morelia’s paletas are Kosher certified by Kosher Miami (KDM).

Why the name Morelia? It is the capital city of the State of Mischoacán in Mexico, where it is believed the first paletas originated by people adding fresh fruit to ice and refresh from the high temperatures. The city of Morelia was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its well-preserved colonial buildings and layout of the historic center.

What about the logo? The logo resembles a Mexican Catrina, which is a symbol of the “Day of the Dead” in Mexico, but it is a tradition full of life. The Catrina means equality, union, and culture. Equality as we are all made of bones and Union as we are equal, regardless of gender, sex or culture.

Over the years, the Morelia team became experts. Having a mere spin on an existing product was not enough so they mastered the necessary skills and knowledge that allowed them to innovate and tailor the experience, texture, and flavors that they now offer to their customers.

Since its first store opening in Coral Gables, Florida in 2016, Morelia Gourmet Paletas has worked hard to create The Best Ice Cream Experience in Miami. The chain now has nine locations in South Florida, six in the Dominican Republic, and one in Mexico. With two more locations on its way to Boca Raton, Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina in March of 2021, the ice cream shop continuously works on achieving its goal of bringing the best ice cream experience to the world.

Morelia Gourmet Paletas is excited to expand to other locations outside of South Florida and into new areas such as Charlotte, North Carolina. Morelia Gourmet Paletas hope to ensure more people can get creative and get The Best Ice Cream Experience!

About Morelia Gourmet Paletas

Morelia came to life when a group of friends living in Brazil had the opportunity to try “Mexican paletas'' for the first time. The friends loved the large, hand-made, 100 percent natural artisanal popsicles so much that they decided to make their own. The first Morelia location was opened in October 2016 in Miami, chosen for its cultural diversity, trendsetting ambiance, and amazing yearlong weather. The founders chose the name “Morelia” because it is the capital city of the State of Michoacán in Mexico, where it is believed the first paletas originated when people added fresh fruit to ice to refresh people from the hot weather. Paletas Morelia currently has South Florida locations in Coral Gables, Wynwood, Aventura Mall, Surfside, Hollywood, Aventura Commons, South Beach, Coconut Grove, and its newest location in Doral. In early 2021, Morelia Gourmet Paletas will be opening up two more locations: Boca Raton, Florida and Charlotte, North Carolina. The ice cream shop is well on its way to achieving its goal of bringing the best ice cream experience to the world.
