Making the most out of the materials around him, artist Louis St. Lewis was never one to snub body parts or fluids as materials for his artwork. The Chapel Hill-based artist has used his own blood and gathered bones for past exhibits, but this time around you can expect a less gruesome spread. His Mirror-Mirror exhibit at Allison Sprock Fine Art will include abstract paintings and collages, some of which feature noble aristocrats and the faces of celebrities like actor Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Amy Winehouse. Praised by Andy Warhol, his work has been fancied by Oprah Winfrey and other notable celebs whose wallspace is coveted by artists. Lewis, known for his theatrical appearances, will be attending the reception.
