Machete! The appropriately titled Charlotte duo Machete! bludgeons their listener via bass and drums. The heavy rhythms and screamed vocals are brutal, trudging past the listener with surprising melody. If it was just noise, they would have faded away long ago, but the songs stand out well in a land of instrumental and metal abundance. — JEFF HAHNE
