On Oct. 4, a new dining and entertainment venue opened its doors in Pineville. They ushered in a variety of local and regional acts that performed everything from bluegrass to country-western. So that you wouldn't miss any of the action, they even had monitors placed throughout the club -- even in the bathroom. Sounds like a great idea, right?
So, what happened? On Dec. 3, less than two months after opening, The Americana closed the doors of its Towne Center boulevard location. Maybe it was the cost of having an average of three different bands each day. Maybe it was the price of having a full production and recording facility, along with filming two TV shows per week. It might have been the costs of tasty comfort foods that were served to patrons.
Regardless, if you got a chance to go by there, you got to experience something unique that has disappeared much too quickly.
