Life is a Highway

Saturday, August 18

It's an oxymoron to put Academy and Country Music in the same sentence, but Rascal Flatts has won its share of ACM and CMA awards over the past seven years, and believe it or not, the country crossover band actually has black fans! No bullshit, I've met them ... well, her (cause I only know one), but hey, they do exist! I'm not one of them, but I know somewhere out there, there is someone longing for the day when the Nashville trio can deliver nasal, country hooks on hip-hop songs alongside their favorite rapper. And you thought hip-hop was dead before. Anyway, the group will be boot scoot boogying (or whatever it is they do) through the Queen City with fellow CMA winner, Jason Aldean, today. So get out your best Stetson (that's a hat), shine up your good snakeskin boots, pop in your favorite Jeff Foxworthy album and don't forget your ball-bustingly tight Wrangler jeans. Enjoy the show! 8 p.m. $30-$69.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, 707 Pavilion Blvd. 704-522-6500.
