The Important Things
Re: Tara Servatius' "Behind the Brown Door" (Citizen Servatius, Jan. 4): You have my sympathy for all you went through. Confronting your parents' mortality in such a situation is an emotionally draining ordeal. There is nothing "to do" except watch the flashing numbers, hoping for the slightest upward trend.
Good luck in your father's recovery and I hope all turns out as well as it can. My own experience in this has run the spectrum over the last many years and has given me an appreciation for your "epiphany." Living through such times gives one a better appreciation for the rewards of daily, mostly dull, life. Thank you for writing a fine article that may remind others of some of the important things in life.
