Stand-up comedian and journalist Aman Ali wants to shed light on what it means to be Muslim in America. In his most recent project, he and a friend (Bassam Tariq) embarked on a road trip across the U.S. during the holy Islamic month of Ramadan. The result: "30 Mosques in 30 Days — An American Ramadan Road Trip Adventure," an online blog detailing their experiences as they immersed themselves in diverse Muslim communities, visiting mosques and mingling at the feasts after a long day of fasting. You can hear Ali's firsthand account when he pays a visit to Central Piedmont Community College for a special lecture. Admission to the event is free, but RSVP is required. To reserve a seat, call 704-330-6595 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. CPCC (Pease Auditorium), 1201 Elizabeth Ave. For more information, visit www.30mosques.com.
