When: Thu., Aug. 8, 7 p.m. 2013

Let’s talk about vaginas! The word, warmly embraced on the theater front (with the popular Vagina Monologues), is often avoided despite being anatomically correct. Author Laura Lewin began questioning the awkwardness after her daughter posed the question: “If there are 7 billion people in the world and half have vaginas, then why is everyone so embarrassed to use that word?” Lewin’s new book, Vagina Revolution: A Candid and Informative Conversation About Vaginas, takes a hard look at why many women have become misinformed about the “private” and feel shame, confusion and embarrassment when talking about their own bodies. In the book she interviews a variety of folks, including doctors, and focuses on the body, mind, spirit and soul of this second set of lips. You can talk vaginas with Lewin when she visits Charlotte.
