* Best Area to Live in Charlotte

"Of all the neighborhoods I've lived in, [NoDa] has the most community feel. From pick-up softball games every Monday night at the neighborhood park to the NoDa run club with hundreds of runners every Wednesday, there is a lot more going on than just the restaurant and bar scene, which is also fantastic."

* Best Local Songwriter

"Steven Warwick of Ancient Cities. I got to know him as a DJ, then was completely surprised when I saw his band live a few years ago. Great songwriting, great voice and really a unique and cool sound."

* Best Mixologist

"Colleen Hughes, who tends bar at Crepe Cellar. Not only does she come up with fantastic cocktails for their menu, but she makes most of the tinctures and syrups herself. I can tell her generally what I'm in the mood for and she can whip up something that is always spot on."

* Best New Restaurant

"Kindred. I've loved Joe Kindred's food from his time at Roosters Uptown. This was [husband and fellow NoDa Farmer's Market co-founder] Scott and my date-night favorite for a couple years. We got to know Joe by sitting at the chef's table and watching him work magicwith food. Now, with his own place, he is going even further with great ingredients and a beautiful space."

* Best Place to People Watch

"Fu's Custom Tattoos — not only do they have the most talented artists in Charlotte but are the most down to earth and friendly folks in the business. Plus, they just won the most LGBT-Friendly shop in town from Q-Notes."
