Next time you're feeling "down to earth," do yourself a favor and look the part as well. MoaZen Jewelry & Accessories near Uptown features a different country-inspired line each month, and this month it's Malaysia that's getting the spotlight.

"The Aba Teminar culture believes in harming no living thing," says one of MoaZen's owners and designers, Hope Rivers. She and her twin sister Faith, the co-owner, have used this motto to introduce the Malaysian Dream Cuffs (pictured) inspired by the country's people. The Gawai Dayak Necklace, which bears the namesake of its people, totes the motto, "Rid Yourself of Greed." It's also named for its village's festival. "Its existence is believed to be almost dream-like," says Hope. Therefore, they wanted to make the jewelry in its image.

The sisters love working with gemstones and, since opening their shop three years ago, have wedded items like leather and copper and shells "in a way that looks upscale but is culture-inspired," says Hope. Each piece, in the shop, falls under one of three categories — Earth, Urban and Signature. The Earth and Urban lines have pieces that run $25-45 and the higher-priced Signature line runs $63-$111. MoaZen is located at 512 E. 15th St. Visit www.moazenjewelry.com for more information.
