Civil War, the Civil Rights Marches, and the Jazz Age are the three historical eras where we conveniently pigeonhole Black history. How nice, then, that Actor's Theatre of Charlotte brings us Intimate Apparel to celebrate Black History Month. Esther, the heroine of Lynn Nottage's drama, is an accomplished African-American seamstress at the dawn of the 20th Century, but she only begins to expand her horizons after striking up a distant correspondence with a laborer at the Panama Canal construction site. Better yet, Kim Watson Brooks and Sidney Horton play key roles through February 24 at 650 E. Stonewall Street. Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $23-$28. Call 704-342-2251.
