Modern sculptor Paul Sires shows his latest work of elegant granite sculptures at the noted Center of the Earth Gallery. Sires' structural and balanced pieces offer the strength of the masculine form with the curve of the feminine style. This exhibit offers viewers a glimpse into the artist's view of the point where nature and culture meet. According to the gallery's press release, "Each carries its own invitation to reach out and be touched. Quiet works of poetry in three dimensions."
If you haven't heard of Sires, you've undoubtedly seen his work all over Charlotte, at such locations as the former Charlotte Bobcats Arena (now known as the Time Warner Cable Arena), Duke Energy Co., and Reedy Creek Park.
According to Sires, "My work over the past several years has become simplified and hopefully more poetic, spiritual and contemplative. My desire is to create works which convey a 'state of being' and use poetry of materials, forms and simple marks. I view my work as traditional sculpture."
