'High Energy' Asian Street Food Coming to South End in Early February

by

For the restauranteur looking to start February off with a bang, look no further than South End, where Hawkers will open its newest location on Feb. 5.

"From day one, the food was at the core of Hawkers Asian Street Fare—generations of Asian street food recipes have been passed down, some of which are still served on the streets of Asia," said the restaurant's website. "But there had to be more. We wanted to build a restaurant that would tell the story of the hawker experience in a subtle and design-conscious way. We wanted great drinks to pair with great food. Most importantly, we wanted to create a place that was high-energy, but approachable in a t-shirt or a sports coat."

With five locations in Florida and one in Atlanta, this is hardly Hawkers' first rodeo.

The trendy menu, featuring #DimSumCrunchyBalls, Hong Kong Wonton, Kimchi Fried Rice, along with an array of beverages including the Boozy Boba (Flor de Cana rum, coconut cream, matcha-honey mix, boba pearls, matcha-sugar rim, boba straw) and the Yum-Yum Bloody Mary (Ketel One Vodka, Hawkers Tom Yum mix, jumbo cocktail shrimp, kimchi stuffed olives) is sure to fit in nicely in South End.

"We’re thrilled to enter the heartbeat of Charlotte in a historic neighborhood that is committed to growth. Southend is described as a quirky-cool destination to live, work, play, shop, dine, party and chill," the site said. "Well-rounded, vibrant, convenient, and unique, we can hardly wait to add our flavor to this town."

The location will be at 1930 Camden Rd. #210, and will serve lunch and dinner. The location will seat 165, and will have an indoor/outdoor bar.
