Guild of Charlotte Artists pPesents a Program by Acclaimed Artist Miriam Durkin

When: Wed., Sept. 28, 7 p.m. 2011

Acclaimed artist Miriam Durkin will discuss her current portraits project, followed by a demonstration. This body of work is very loose and gestural, largely inspired by 1960s portrait paintings by Elaine De Kooning. Her lecture will also include a topic many artists struggle with: risk taking and fear. She was the arts editor of The Charlotte Observer. She won the Magazine Association of the Southeast’s 2009 Gold Medal for her profile of Andy Braitman, profiled abstract artist Herb Jackson for Charlotte magazine and has written extensively about the Bechtler Museum and Bank of America collection. Guests Welcomed!
