Food From Home: An Afternoon with Tom Hanchett

When: Sun., March 16, 3 p.m. 2014

What foods define Charlotte? Look back at food traditions in our area, and at the surprising things that food can tell us about Charlotte today. Come to this free afternoon at The Duke Mansion with Dr. Tom Hanchett, Levine Museum staff historian and writer of the “Food from Home” column in The Charlotte Observer. Expect to hear about the great Carolina BBQ debate, about Charlotte’s heritage of Greek restauranteurs, even about the origin of livermush. Learn how a new generation of food entrepreneurs is creating international eateries and grocery shops along Central Avenue, South Boulevard, and in suburban Matthews.
