The "Find Your Muse" open mic night at The Evening Muse on Monday nights is about to get a bit of a makeover. The series, which will now be called "Monday Night Live," will be held in conjunction with a new event entitled, "The Crown Town Showdown."

On the first Monday of each month (beginning April 7), The Muse and Creative Loafing will present a songwriting and performance competition for local and national music acts. Fifteen performers of all styles will compete for a cash prize and an invitation to the Grand Showdown which will take place twice a year.

Performance slots will be chosen via lottery at the last "Monday Night Live" of each month. Lottery requests may be submitted in person at the Muse and online at www.theeveningmuse.com/thecrowntownshowdown (under construction.)
