Tonight’s Indie Spotlight at The Light Factory sounds like it'll have you feeling a little closer to your family — no matter how screwed up they are. The venue is honing in on avant garde animator and digital collagist Heather D. Freeman's brand-spankin'-new animation, Pennipotens. Based off of a fairy tale recorded by Edmund Dulac in 1916, the film tells the story of a jealous mother who tries to kill the beautiful one of her two daughters. Now, that’s love. The flick uses digital cutout animation combined with hand-drawn animation and is described as being influenced by Japanese shadow-puppets.
