Film: Asphalt Revolution: The Vandals of Verse

When: Thu., Jan. 19, 8 p.m. 2012

The rhyme and reason behind the performance art form of Slam Poetry gets examined in Asphalt Revolution: The Vandals of Verse, a feature-length comedy filmed in Charlotte. Directed by Sam Miller (pictured) and co-written by Miller and the award-winning poets of Concrete Generation, this satirical piece follows the members of Asphalt Revolution as they prepare to compete in the National Poetry Slam Championship. The movie, recommended for mature audiences due to its language, is truly a homegrown product, receiving (in Miller's own words) "no outside funding and nothing more than the support of Charlotte's artists, entrepreneurs, promoters, and poetry fans."
