Woodstock is, was, and always will be not only a concert, but a changing event in the history of music festivals. That's where paying tribute to the festival comes in. In honor of Woodstock's 40th anniversary, Michael Lang (original creator of Woodstock) himself, is putting on a series of Woodstock tributes nationwide. The tour stops in at Charlotte's Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall on Sat., Aug. 15. The list of bands and musicians set to perform is lengthy and comprised of School of Rock Showband, Actual Proof, Donna Duncan, Leisure McCorkle, Chris English and the North Americans, Matter of Fact, Lenny Federal, Marcy Hernandez, Crackers and Snackmeat, Case Federal and the Agents and Blue Mountain Stranglers. Of course, these bands will be paying tribute to music legends -- who graced the stages of the original Woodstock -- like Jimmy Hendrix, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Santana and more. It'll be way less crazy than back in the days of free love, but it's worth checking out. And even better, it's free. All ages. Free. 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall, 4400 Sharon Rd. www.schoolofrockwoodstock.com.
