Playwrights Virginia Cate and her son Duke Ernsberger drove us bananas in Don’t Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell, and they’re doing it again in their latest farcical fare, Dracula Bites. The show — presented by Starving Artist Productions — is based around a failing theater director and his dream of adapting Bram Stoker’s gothic classic. He gets lucky after stumbling upon a theater company that’s desperate enough to put its stage in his hands. But what entails goes beyond stakes, fangs and bloody feedings, turning a horrific fiend into a mockery. Notable local and regional actors/actresses include SAP founder Nathan Rouse, James K. Flynn, Robert Brafford, Marcie Jacobs, Sheila Snow Proctor, Caroline Puschinsky and Donna Scott.
