Dr. Cheryl Hicks: Talk With You Like a Woman, UNC Charlotte Personally Speaking Series

Dr. Cheryl Hicks, assistant professor of history, UNC Charlotte, brings forward the voices of black working-class women, especially southern migrants, in early 20th-century New York. In her book, Talk With You Like a Woman, and in her talk, she explores the impact of racism and sexism on these women and their families. Through their stories Hicks sheds light on urban reform and criminal justice issues. Doors open: 6:15 p.m.; Talk at 6:30 p.m.; Reception follows. Attendance and parking are free.
