Not many comedies begin with cold-blooded murder, but opera has never relied on the expected. The title character of Mozart's Don Giovanni (aka Don Juan) has become a synonym for "player" from his first literary appearances in the 14th Century. Fast forward to the 21st Century where you'll find our Don. The omnisexual bad boy isn't completely heartless (love the one you're with?) he simply has an appreciation for beauty of all forms. And the cast is anything but traditional. This gender-bending interpretation of a classic is hilarious, at times provocative, and full of ecstasy.
