Defying Gravity is a charming, humor-filled play about our human adventures into the unknown. Jane Anderson’s masterful work centers on the 1986 Challenger launch and artfully interweaves together the lives of a motley group of characters: The painter, Claude Monet. Ed and Betty, a retired couple in a Winnebago who dream of hotels in space. The teacher, bold enough to serve as the first civilian astronaut. Her daughter, Elizabeth braving her mother’s journey. C.B., a NASA ground crew technician and his spunky, down-to-earth dream girl, Donna. Together their stories celebrate the spirit of exploration, and inspire us to defy gravity in all senses of the word.
