DEAFHEAVEN
San Fran metal quintet Deafheaven is able to swiftly balance the melodic with jagged-edged black metal vocals and hints of shoegaze subtleties. It makes for an interesting, yet brutal, mixture. Where the band has been able to ebb and flow between the aggressive and symphonic, its latest effort, 2015’s New Bermuda, stays steady with a heavy-handed approach. Singer?
