Cracker, Simplified

When: Fri., May 23 2014

There’s a haunting track off Cracker’s 2006 Greenland LP, “Sidi Ifni,” that disproves the idea David Lowery’s best songwriting days died with Camper Van Beethoven. Over a narcotic beat and sinister melody, Lowery rummages through the deserted souks and alleys of southern Morocco. Images of “lethargy, decay and forgotten loves” pull the blissfully hypnotized listener down with him. Point being, Cracker is a better band than you think. (John Schacht)
