Avid Creative Loafing readers may recognize this week's profile subject, Consuella, as the lady we named "Charlotte's Sexiest Woman" in our annual Best of Charlotte issue. But beyond the fact that she is damn sexy, we've never really told you much else about her. Well, here goes ...
You can hear Consuella on the radio – on Power 98, 97.9 FM – five days a week hosting the nightly show "Grind Time" (10 p.m. to 2 a.m.). On the show, she plays music, and answers listener mail. And, in a segment of her show called the Love Lounge, she interviews celebrities about love, lust and personal passions.
Over the years, Consuella has worn a ton of different hats: She's served as a model, a TV host, and singer, among many other roles.
Originally from Louisiana, Consuella worked as an on-air personality in New Orleans. Then came hurricane Katrina. "After Katrina I couldn't take living in New Orleans. There was nothing there," she says. "We were still working on the radio, but I was living in a hotel after Katrina because I lost everything."
After being offered a job in Charlotte, Consuella came to the Q.C. and says she's quite happy she made the move. "Charlotte has been a healing ground for me," says Consuella. "I've been able to sit down, relax and take a deep breath."
Besides the radio, you can catch Consuella hosting events around town (she recently served as the MC for the Common concert) and on TV in a variety of commercials.
