Comics coming this spring

Coinciding with our big Spring Guide this week, I decided to throw the spotlight on a few good books coming your way this season. Check them out:

B.P.R.D.: The Hellboy-centric book about mankind's battle against supernatural forces ends more than six years of dangling plotlines this spring in the limited series King of Fear, which is on sale now.

Brightest Day: After DC Comics' successful Blackest Night limited series ends, the company will launch the new yearlong bi-weekly series Brightest Day. The new book (written by fan favorite Geoff Johns) promises to resurrect a bunch of dead characters -- like Aquaman ... at least for a little while.

Mystery Society: Writer Steven Niles -- the guy behind 30 Days of Night -- unleashes a brand-new horror/adventure book from IDW.

Jam! Tales From the World of Roller Derby: Fans of the Charlotte Roller Girls will probably want to get their hands on this new anthology from Oni Press that features a ton of derby-oriented stories.

Turf: I mentioned this series before, but be sure to check out artist Tommy Lee Edwards' new creator-owned Image Comics series about aliens, vampires and mobsters.

Avengers: Marvel's heavyweight superhero team, the Avengers, gets a big-time relaunch -- including a bunch of new Avengers-related titles.

American Vampire: Living legend Stephen King co-writes this new Vertigo series about a new breed of vampires "born" in the good-old U.S. of A.
