Charlotte Ice Cream Festival

When: Sat., Aug. 20, 12-8 p.m. 2011

While it's still nice and toasty outside, why not dedicate a day to cooling down with sweet frozen delights? At the Charlotte Ice Cream Festival, folks can indulge in more than 20 different flavors of ice cream by brands such as Haagen-Dazs, Ben & Jerry's, Edy's, Breyer's/Good Humor, Bassett's, Turkey Hill and Jack & Jill. And to go with the ice cream, cookies, cakes, brownies, pies and toppings will be provided. Brave souls can try competing in the Man Vs. Food Contest - filling the stomach with watermelon, hot dogs, doughnuts, wings, corn dogs, pizza, pies and ice cream. If that combo doesn't leave you feeling nauseous, then be sure to register for the contest in advance. There will also be live entertainment by Crossing Yellow Lines, Jeremy Parson, Jami Masters School of Dance, Queen City Dance Out and more. A portion of the proceeds raised from the fest goes to Liver Cancer and Back To School Supplies. For more information, visit www.charlotteicecreamfestival.com.
