Finding influence in everyone from Feist to James Blake to The Avett Brothers, Charles Walker's Truth be Told is a brilliantly arranged showcase of diversity. From the trumpet-driven "Crow Song", to the lyrical rollercoaster "Hinges", to the RnB anthem "Trivial", Charles's voice and subject matter are the threads that hold the record together. In "Time to Spend", he offers a helpful hand to a friend who feels hopeless. He sings of a girl who struggles to forgive a father who walked out on the family on "The Crow Song". He deals with conflict of belief in a higher power in "Same Old Joke"- a conflict that he settles later, in "The Reason".
