Rianna Das, a senior at Cannon School in Concord, sought out guidance from Rick Booth, president of Intrepid Artists, and put together a benefit CD for the Levine Children's Hospital. The 12-track CD, Breathe On, features songs from Evelynn Rose, Simplified, The Lo and Beholds, among others.

"The primary reason I created a benefit CD is because I wanted to do something to help children at the hospital, while also sharing my love of music with others. It was important that we raised a significant amount of money for the hospital; however, it was also important that the bands on the CD got some exposure. All of the bands on the CD are local and should be recognized and appreciated," Das said via e-mail correspondence.

Das hopes to raise $9,000 in sales with 100 percent of the profits going to the Levine Children's Miracle Network in Charlotte. The CDs are priced at $10 and are on sale now at the Home Styles Gallery in Mint Hill or via e-mail at Roopal@mindspring.com.

According to Roopal Das, Rianna's mom, "The Children's Miracle Network is trying to get the CDs on the CMC Levine Children's Hospital Web site."

Das dedicated her time and passion to the production of the CD not as an academic requirement but out of the kindness of her own heart. She designed the sleeve and cover of the CD, sought the help of Booth, and received permission from the Levine Children's Hospital to use their logo on the CD.
