What could be a more natural accompaniment to summer's balmy heat than sweet reggae music? Its tropical groove is uplifting, and the music's oft-cited positive vibrations are, for the most part, truly palpable. The abrupt arrival of summer this year brings rare appearances by a couple of Jamaican icons. The Carolina Reggae Fest at the Oasis Shrine Auditorium on Wednesday, June 15, features co-headliners and reggae veterans Marcia Griffiths and Beres Hammond, along with an array of followers including lover boy Wayne Wonder.

Others performing at Reggae Fest are R&B singer Jimmy Cozier, dancehall staple Mega Banton, Cha cha Reble, Stacey Ann and The Harmony House Singers and House musicians. The Carolina Reggae Fest is at Oasis Shrine Auditorium on Wed., June 15. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9:30pm. Tickets are $28. For more details call 980-721-9126.
