Using the formal elements of painting along with construction materials and a little hardware store magic, this class will share numerous techniques for designing surface and creating texture in an archival process. This is an opportunity to learn how to use materials such as wood, house paint, joint compound, plastic and paper packing materials, string, Styrofoam trays, photographs, and found objects. We will also learn techniques such as gel medium transfers and simple ways to create monoprints to use as collage. The entire process is messy, but allows for a lot of creativity and experimentation. Students will create four paintings. Beginners-advanced.
