Dirty deeds: A 23-year-old woman went to police headquarters after realizing that she had been duped out of an award that she apparently believed she deserved. The victim told police that an unknown suspect had called her to tell her that she had won a "Good Citizenship Award." The catch, however, was that she would need to send the suspect money in exchange for the award. The woman went to a local Western Union and wired $290 to the suspect. She has yet to receive the award.
Not-so-thank-you Note: Employees at On A String Bead Shop in south Charlotte called police after being threatened by a polite burglar. The suspect left a note in the mail slot overnight informing employees that he would be breaking into the business sometime soon.
Drizzzy Drake: An officer working the Drake concert in Charlotte last week filed a report after security found a sleeping beauty during the middle of the show. The security guard was walking the perimeter of the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre when he came across a 17-year-old girl laid across the ground, completely passed out. The girl was taken to a medic tent for observation, and no injuries were reported. Here's hoping she at least saw the opening act.
Not JK: A 46-year-old woman filed a police report after waking up to realize that a jokester had vandalized her vehicle overnight. The woman said when she came out of her University-area home one morning, she found that the sides of her Lexus GS300 had been keyed. Across the hood, in big letters, someone had scratched the letters "LOL."
Walking (limping) cliche: A police officer was called by the staff at University Hospital after a 27-year-old man checked himself in with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his left foot. The man told officers that he was in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven when the .45 caliber handgun tucked under his pant waist fell down his leg. He shot himself while struggling to inconspicuously recover the gun.
Artistic expression: A 53-year-old man filed a police report after a lovers' quarrel in his south Charlotte home became violent. He said he was arguing with his significant other when she punched him in the head. He went downstairs to get away from her, and she threw a glass ornamental wall hanging from the balcony above him. The piece of art shattered, cutting his legs. As he tried to leave, she grabbed at and tore his shirt.
