DUMB CRIMINAL ALERT: An 18-year-old woman reported that she lost her cell phone. When she called her phone, a man picked up, admitted to having her phone, but said he wouldn't give it back without a reward. He told the woman that he was at work at a CVS in Dilworth and she could drop the money off to him there. The woman called the police. They went to the man's job and recovered the phone.

PUPPY THEFT: A 39-year-old woman said someone broke into her home while she was there and stole her dog. Twenty minutes later, the thief returned and gave the dog back.

LOVERS' ROCK: A 24-year-old woman and her ex-boyfriend were having an argument while in bed. She said he rolled on top of her and starting hitting her in the face, forcing her to scratch and hit him in defense. But her ex-boyfriend said that isn't what happened at all. He said she assaulted him because he arrived at her house late.

CUJO STRIKES AGAIN: A 43-year-old man saw a dog attacking a child. While he was trying to rescue the child, the dog started attacking him. The man said he had to shoot the dog to get it to stop.

CARJACKED: A 37-year-old woman said her ex-boyfriend used her vehicle from Dec. 1, 2007 to April 28 without permission. When they were dating, she would let him use her vehicle from time to time, she said, but she hasn't spoken to him in months. He has not contacted her about returning her vehicle.

THREAT OF THE WEEK: An 18-year-old woman said someone has called her at least 15 times to harass and annoy her. During several of the calls the suspect threatened her by saying, "I'm coming to your job and I'm going to kill you and whoever is there." She said the suspect has also said he was going to shoot her brothers.
