Snow fight: Police responded to a call in east Charlotte after some kids needed their parents to clean up their mess. A 42-year-old woman told officers she was driving down the road when her car was nailed with a snowball. She got out of the car and attempted to speak to the parents of the kids who had thrown it. The kids' parents then responded with a threat to go get their gun. In the end, the car was not damaged and no crime was committed, but surely the police were happy that they had to drive out to the scene.
Can't Dump This: While law enforcement unsuccessfully searched for suspects who had illegally dumped toxic chemicals into a creek recently, another man was a bit easier to catch after discarding his trash illegally. Employees at a local apartment complex came across a pile of furniture, mattresses, boxes and bags of trash that someone had left behind after moving. They didn't have to search long for the suspect, however, as every bag of trash that he left behind held mail with his name on it.
True blood: A 33-year-old woman filed a police report after her boyfriend assaulted her with a weapon that he produced himself. The woman told officers that the man threw his own blood at her, striking her in the face with it. No report on whether this action hurt the man more than it hurt the lady.
Are you macheting me?: Police responded to an assault call in east Charlotte after a man was cut by another man, but it could've been worse. The victim told police that another man swung a machete at him but missed. The suspect did strike a vase with the machete, and a piece flew up and struck the victim in the face. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
Old tricks: A 76-year-old woman fell victim to a scam artist who just so happened to sound like her grandson. The woman told officers that someone called claiming to be her grandson and saying he had been in an accident and was in a lot of trouble. The woman wired him money, falling for a scam that many senior citizens have fallen for in the past. This woman did not bother to call any family members to double check the kid's story and continued to wire him money. She sent him $5,940 throughout the next week before realizing she'd been had.
Rude: Police were conducting a knock-and-talk at a house near Independence Boulevard when a man inside decided he didn't want to hang around to find out what they wanted. The man ran upstairs and began firing shots down at officers. He then jumped out of a second-floor window to get away. Police found him nearby and took him and others that were in the house to the department for questioning. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
