Bizarre crime from Charlotte police files (Jan. 14)

Stuck in action

What Did That Bar Do To You?!: After being asked to leave a Plaza Midwood-area restaurant, an unruly suspect took a fork and began carving into the bar's countertop. As they were escorted from the premises, the person knocked over tables and plants on the patio before being arrested nearby. That's not the way to get good service.

It's Cold Season: Someone entered a south Charlotte Family Dollar and left without paying for Mucinex and miscellaneous candy. Sweets make us feel better, too.

Don't Leave Home Without Them: A 22-year-old Waxhaw woman reported theft from her Uptown hotel room. The items reported stolen were a credit card, a black NY&C purse, a Coach wallet, Mary Kay makeup, ear buds, cubic zircona jewelry, a phone charger and a CD of personal wedding photos. Because who doesn't travel 30 miles from home, get a hotel and bring their wedding pics along with them?

Daring Display: An unknown male shoplifted a pair of earrings from a north Charlotte department store by removing the backing, putting them in his ears and walking out of the mall.

Hold the Mayo: Someone entered an east Charlotte Food Lion and walked off with a jar of Duke's mayonnaise. People in the South sure love their Duke's.

A Small Donation: An Uptown-area church called police after a woman was seen leaving a suitcase in front of the building. Among the items found in the suitcase: a medicine bottle filled with 30 pennies.

Is That Liquor In Your Pockets Or...?: A central Charlotte ABC store reported shoplifting after a man entered the store, proceeded to the Grey Goose Vodka display, took a bottle off the shelf and stuck it in his pants. Perhaps he was trying to compensate for something.

Blotter items are chosen from the files of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
