I’m sort of intrigued that this foreign import received a whopping 11 nominations from the Israeli Film Academy (winning five) without being one of the seven nominees for Best Film (sooo, members liked everything about the movie except the movie itself?). At any rate, despite its awards presence, its mostly positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and its positioning at more than a dozen film festivals, the tidbit most likely to get many people into seats is that Quentin Tarantino called it “the best film of the year.” It certainly sounds up his alley (to say nothing of Back Alley Film Series’ alley), as this exercise in torture porn (with plenty of dark comedic elements) follows three men — a detective, a father and a teacher — who are all involved with a case in which a serial killer is raping and beheading little girls.
