At the end of the day, it all comes down to Charlotte. In this special issue, we celebrate the city we all know, this rapidly evolving New South burg, this banking metropolis risen from the fields, this traffic-choked up-and-comer, this racing city with a million speed humps, this entrepreneurial mecca looking for an identity. Keep this issue of Creative Loafing for future reference: of the best places to go, things to do, and a few things to avoid.
An issue this big doesn't just appear on the stands. A lot of folks, from vote tabulators and critics and sales people to writers and designers and photographers and editors, and especially our hard-working distributors, have all burned the midnight oil, stressed out, put their noses to the grindstone, worked like dogs, given a hundred percent, and any other cliche about working hard you can think of, just to bring you this issue.
So go ahead -- put your votes, and our hard work, to good use: kick back, take a deep breath (be sure it's a clean air day), and enjoy our 15th annual Best Of Charlotte issue. Now it's yours. Critics' Panel: Linda Luise Brown, Matt Brunson, Elizabeth Chapel, Tricia Childress, Tim Davis, Lynn Farris, Frye Gaillard, John Grooms, Gene Lazo, Karen Martin, Lucy Perkins, Shannon Reichley, Amy Rogers, Tara Servatius, Susan Shackelford, Perry Tannenbaum, and Ann Wicker.
