BENEFIT: "Not•So•Silent" Auction

Friday, Feb. 6

Cancer is bad. Most of us, if fortunate enough to have not been targeted by the deadly disease ourselves, have known someone who has struggled or is struggling with it. That's where DrumsForCures comes in, with its goal of raising money to find a cure. This Friday, it will hold its "Not•So•Silent" Auction at McGlohon Theatre. The auction will feature more than 50 items, including autographed memorabilia by celebrities, vintage wines, travel, restaurant and spa packages, a DW Timeless Timber drum kit and more. In addition, you'll be treated to hors d'oeuvres, an open bar and music from Brubeck Brothers Quartet (featuring two of pianist Dave Brubeck's sons), Jim Donovan (former drummer for Rusted Root), Jim Brock and Jim Roberts and more. And it's all for a good cause, as funds raised will be matched dollar for dollar to benefit Levine Children's Hospital cancer research and clinical trials programs. $75 ($125 for couples). 6 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000.
