Beach Fossils, Yardwork

When: Mon., Sept. 12 2011

BEACH FOSSILS Having shed his local Stone Figs ties and moved to Brooklyn, Dustin Peyseur’s new outfit turned in one of last year’s pleasant surprises, a self-titled lo-fi ode to youth whose hazy reverb vocals and jangling, nervy guitar lines — the Byrds one moment, New Order the next — read like the kind of idyllic, stoned summer day that sticks to your memory forever. You do wonder where there is to go next with that restricted sonic palette, but Beach Fossils inspires faith because it proved Peyseur can obviously pen a compelling song. With Yardwork. (John Schacht)
